Abstract

589,200. Endless tracks for vehicles. DENNISON, E. A. March 19, 1945, No. 6851. [Class 79 (i)] An overall chain for road vehicle wheels of the type comprising rigid shoes extending transversely across the treads of the tyres, side flaps hinged to the shoes and retaining chains or the like between the flaps of adjacent shoes, has the connecting chains attached to some flaps near to the free end of the flaps and to others near to the hinges. Fig. 1 shows two wheels a and b with tyres c around which is fitted an overall chain comprising a series of rigid shoes d, Fig. 2 with side flaps e hinged at f. Retaining chains g or the like connect the flaps of adjacent shoes by bolts h. The points of attachment of the chains are alternately near to the hinge f and to the free end of the flap and are so arranged that-the chains g extending round half of each wheel lie in pairs and straight lines along the sides of regular polygons.
