Abstract

645,415. Endless tracks. ROADLESS TRACTION, Ltd. Dec. 8, 1947, No. 32373. [Class 79 (i)] In a vehicular endless track of the locked girder type, which comprises inner and outer links 1, 2 joined by pivot pins 3 and having interengaging abutments 4, 5 and 6, 7 so as to maintain the track when lying on the ground with a slight convex curvature, a link joint comprises a sleeve of resilient material interposed between the pin and the inner link, the inner wall of the sleeve being bonded to the pin or to a sleeve member rigidly secured to the pin and the outer wall of the resilient sleeve being bonded to the inner link or to a member rigidly secured to the inner link. As shown each pivot pin 3 is secured to bosses 9 on one outer link by lock plates 12. As shown in Fig. 1 the resilient sleeve 11 is bonded to the pin 3 and the metal sleeve member 10 which is secured to bosses 8 on one inner link 1. Rotatably mounted on the sleeve 10 is a roller 13 adapted to be engaged by a driving sprocket. As shown in an alternative construction, Fig. 3, the roller 13 is rotatably mounted on the pin 3 and the resilient sleeve is formed in two parts 11a, each part being bonded on both the outside and inside to metal sleeves 10a, 15.
