Driving-chains with separate joint pins.-The joints comprise a number of cooperating pintle parts adapted to rock and slide relatively to one another. Fig. 2 shows a joint between adjacent links 4 of a chain intended to run from right to left. The pintle part 6 carried by one link rocks on and slides along the face 7 of the part 5 carried by the other link. As the links leave the straight run to ride over a sprocket wheel the part 6 first rocks on the part 5 and then slides down it, so that the effective centre of articulation moves in the direction of bending of the chain, and when the links return to the straight run the inclination of the faces 7 to the vertical causes the parts 6 to slide up the parts 5 to the position shown in Fig. 2. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, a wearing shoe 10 is interposed between the parts 5<a>, 6<a> so that the part 6a rocks on the shoe and slides with it along the face 7a of the part 5a.
