Driving-chains with separate joint pins.-The joint pin 3 of a driving-chain is made of segmental cross-section, the curved surface bearing against a corresponding surface in the following link. In the form shown in Fig. 2 the segment is rather less than a semicircle. The chord of the segment bears on a flat face on the leading link and the necessary clearance is provided in the following link. The segment may be rather more than a semicircle. Forms are also described in which the flat face is formed in the following link and in which a wear-resisting bushing is arranged about the round side of the pin. The pintle may be arranged so that the amounts of metal on each side of it are approximately the same, the centre of the rotation being correspondingly displaced from the median line of the tooth.
