Abstract
411,774. Driving - chains. MORSE CHAIN CO., Ltd., The Chaineries, Letchworth, Hertfordshire.-(Assignees of Perry, D. B. ; Ithaca, New York, U.S.A.) Dec. 29, 1933, No. 36595. Convention date, March 6. [Class 24.] In power transmission chains of the " silent " type, the co-operating links 6, 7, are provided at each joint with apertures having a concave bearing surface 12 and a double concave seating surface 13, 14, and a single joint pin 9 of oval section makes sliding contact with the surface 12 and seats alternately in the surfaces 13, 14 during the bending of the chain. To prevent sagging of the chain the major axis of the apertures of each link converge towards the inside of the chain, so that on a straight run the joint pin is seated in the upper surfaces 13. The amount of permissible sagging is controlled by the degree of convergence provided and, in the case of chains which are required to drive on both faces, the major axes of the apertures are parallel.
