Abstract

1,027,227. Endless tracks. K. GERLACH and H. GERLACH. Dec. 21, 1962 [Dec. 21, 1961], No. 48373/62. Heading B7H. The links of an endless track for vehicles comprise hollow steel or light alloy members 1 through which pass rods 5 having torsion resisting rubber coatings, those in adjacent links being joined together by connecting members 5<SP>1</SP>. On their upper sides, the links are provided with sprocket-engaging guide members 2 of light alloy having hard wearing sleeves 3, and rubber coatings for engagement with the track guide rollers. On their lower sides, the links are provided with ground engaging members 10 having ribs 8, 9 between which may be fitted rubber or steel chocks. The members 1 may be formed integrally or of two interfitting halves shrunk in place and welded together. In modifications, each track link may comprise two separate members 1, Fig. 6 (not shown), or the members 1 may be formed integrally with the ribs 8, 9 or may have the connecting rods 5 at different elevations. The ground engaging shoes may extend across the links.
