Abstract

786,836. Endless tracks for vehicles. KENSINGTON STEEL CO. Jan. 4, 1956, No. 313/56. Class 79(1) [Also in Group XXII] A vehicle track link is a one piece steel casting comprising side members having aligned eyes 2a, 3a, grouser plate attaching portions 5, roller bearing faces 6 and openings 6a connected by vertical struts 10, portions of the openings 6a being arch-like, the eyes 2a being interconnected by a sleeve 2 and a tie bar 4 connecting the portions 5 between the struts 10 and the eyes 3a. As shown each link is an austenitic manganese steel casting and the sleeve 2 is adapted to engage the track sprocket. The portions 5 are provided with bolt holes 7 for securing the grouser plates in position. The links are connected to form a length of endless track by the insertion under power of pins into the eyes 2a, 3a and sleeves 2, and the ends of the length can be interconnected in the field by the insertion of a pin the diameter of which is mostly smaller than the eyes and sleeve, but which has one end formed with longitudinal ridges to engage the appropriate eye.
