Abstract

588,458. Bearings. SHARRATT, J. G., and SHARRATT, A. G. Feb. 19, 1945, No. 4155. [Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A rotatable spindle is supported in any one of a number of holes of different diameter such as c by a tapered bush a having a number of axial grooves e along its outer surface, stepped bars f being slidable in each groove with means provided for actuating the bars. A sleeve h screwed into the end of the bush has a circumferential groove m into which projections j, integral with the bars f, extend. The sleeve is provided with a head i for hand manipulation to adjust the bars so that the appropriate steps g may be wedged into the supporting hole.
