Abstract

588,456. Battery lamps. GILDERSLEEVES, F. A. Feb. 19, 1945, No. 4143. [Class 39 (ii)] A switching device carried by the cap 1 of a battery torch comprises a ball or balls 9 loosely mounted in a pocket or pockets of a movable housing 5 and spring-pressed against a fixed insulating member 13 so that in one position the electric circuit may be completed through holes or studs in the insulating member. As shown the housing is adapted to be rotated by an external knob 3 which is preferably of insulating material. A spring 11 contacts the end of the battery and is in connection with the housing 5. Depressions in the insulating member may define " off" positions. The Provisional Specification also describes modifications in which the insulating member is a ring encircling the end of the torch casing and a dished knob or rotatable cap carries the balls.
