Abstract
693,824. Levels. LYNN, N. Feb. 9, 1950 [Sept. 28, 1949], No. 24825/49. Class 97 (ii). A portable hand spirit level is provided with an electric lamp c disposed to illuminate the bubble b and connected in circuit with a switch device which automatically closes the circuit when the spirit level is in an approximately level position. As shown, the switch device comprises two oppositely inclined grooved conducting members h<SP>1</SP>, h<SP>2</SP> insulated from each each other and a metal ball g arranged to roll in the grooves to close the circuit by joining the two members h<SP>1</SP>, h<SP>2</SP> when the spirit level is in an approximately level position. A battery d is disposed with the other elements in a recess in the body of the level and the recess is covered by a plate m.
