Abstract

722,831. Road trade signs. BENNETT, R., and LISTER, G. D. April 17, 1953 [April 7, 1952], No. 8783/52. Class 3 (2). [Also in Group XXXVII] A direction signalling apparatus comprises a casing A1 having means D for attachment to a part of the wrist or forearm of a user, an electric battery M within the casing and a bulb K1 in circuit therewith, a warning device B adapted to be illuminated by the bulb and a separate gravity operated switch within the casing which switch is automatically operated to open or close the circuit when the user raises or lowers the casing. The casing has a detachable cover A and the warning device B consists of two arms one on each of the long sides of the cover. A sign C in the top of the cover may also be provided. The gravity switch consists of a hollow cylinder G which is pivoted at its centre and which contains a steel ball G2 which when at the left-hand end as shown in Fig. 2 holds the other end of the cylinder in contact with a member H to complete a circuit. between the battery and the lamp and which when at the right-hand end of the cylinder keeps it out of contact with the member H. The gravity switch can be kept in the unoperated position by a pin which engages the left-hand end, the pin being connected to an external lever L.
