Abstract
587,377. Stuffing leather. STEPHENS, C. Nov. 23, 1944, No. 23322. [Class 76] Apparatus for stuffing leather with grease comprises a rotary imperforate drum 1 mounted in a heated casing 2, and having at each end an unobstructed opening 3<1> affording communication with the interior of the casing. Air may be drawn through an adjustable inlet 18 over heating pipes 15 by a fan 22 and may be recirculated through a duct 24. Alternatively preheated air may be introduced into the casing and the temperature may be thermostatically controlled. The drum is mounted on rollers 4 and driven by a motor 7 through reduction gearing 9, 10. Grease may be introduced into the drum from a hopper 13, and doors are provided in the casing opposite the open ends of the drum.
