Abstract

1333823 Thermographic apparatus F ENGELS 7 Jan 1971 [8 Jan 1970] 813/71 Heading G2A Thermographic apparatus for developing heat developable material 43 comprises a casing 8, a rotatably driven drum 1, a fixed mat 17 surrounding a substantial portion of the outer surface of the drum forming therewith a gap for the passage of material entrained by the drum, a heat source 19 generating heat for transmission to the material during a fraction of its travel between the mat and the drum, the heat source consisting of a sheet shaped to permit its direct application to the outer surface of either the rotary drum or the fixed mat, temperature control means 20 being associated with the heat source. The casing has an opening 9 for the ingress and egress of material 43. A doctor 34 detaches the material from the drum. The drum is surrounded by heat insulating material 22 having an inner lining 24 of heat reflective material, e.g. aluminium, and with the casing 8 forms a passage 32 along which air is drawn by a fan 27 from a front aperture 33 to an exhaust duct 31. The heat control device 20 comprises a bulb of the fluid pressure type and is shaped to follow the contour of mat 17.
