620,905. Drying-apparatus. BENDIX HOME APPLIANCES, Inc. Jan. 30, 1947, No. 2914. Convention date, Feb. 20, 1946. [Class 34(ii)] A clothes drier comprises a cylinder rotating on a horizontal axis having an end wall provided with an opening concentric with its axis of rotation and a fixed air duct adjacent thereto with inlet and outlet openings for the circulation of air through the cylinder. In the embodiment a clothes-containing cylinder 17, within a heat insulated casing 43, is driven by a belt 28 passing over a front tubular opening 21. Belt 28 is driven through belt gearing by a motor 24. The meshed front end wall 19 of the cylinder is partially covered by a panel 12 leaving an outlet 29 and inlet 30 for heated air. An air circulating fan 31, belt driven by motor 24, is mounted adjacent the outlet 29, and draws air from the cylinder and drives it through duct channels 34 and 35 mounted on the panel. The air passes through electric heaters 39 into the cylinder inlet 30. A scoop 38 is arranged in the duct 34 to exhaust a portion of the circulating air.
