586,813. Pyrophoric lighters. SANDOR, B., and MECHANICAL LIGHTERS & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Nov. 9, 1944, No. 22037. [Class 75 (iii)] A pyrophoric lighter comprises a body A of die cast soft metal or alloy having a swaged-in bottom B and formed at the top with a flange A' which is slotted to receive a steel striking wheel G in contact with a spring- pressed flint mounted in a longitudinal passage in the flange. The wick passes through a removable holder N screwing into the top of the body A and is normally covered by a snuffer K carried by a soft metal cap I which is pivoted to the flange A' and has a steel of hard metal insert L engaged by a spring-pressed plunger M resisting movement of the cap from the raised and lowered positions. The filling plug C is formed with a fine screw driver D for adjusting the screw plug tensioning the flint spring.
