Abstract

586,634. Plug closures for containers for parenteral and other fluids. STEVENS, A. H. (Baxter Laboratories, Inc.). Dec. 1, 1943, No. 20078. [Classes 21 and 125 (iii)] A closure for a container or the like comprises a resilient rubber &c. plug 10 with passages 11, 12 closed at the top by integral members 18 at least one of which carries a flexible projection so that this closure member may be broken off at its junction with the plug. This member 18 is foldable across the top of the plug. The invention is described as applied to a container for parenteral fluids &c. which is. closed as usual by exhausting the air from the container after the plug is loosely applied, then reapplying atmospheric pressure and then applying a metal closure. Channel 11 serves for egress and channel 12 for vent air, a filter being applied if required.
