Abstract

A closure for reaction flasks comprising a ferrule fitted and glued to the flask open end with transparent adhesive creating a strong flexible lip. A sealing cap is slidable on the ferrule to a primary retention groove acting on an annular ferrule projection, the flask is covered but still in communication with the ambient atmosphere for release of reaction pressure or gases. The cap may be axially compressed to a secondary position effecting a seal between ferrule lip and an upper cup mug projecting into the open ferrule extremity giving complete closure of the reaction flask.
