Abstract

946,110. Stoppers. DOSAMATIC DROPPER CORPORATION. Dec. 23, 1960 [Dec. 23, 1959; April 28, 1960], No. 44332/60. Heading B8T. The bulb portion 46 of a pipette 18 carried by a stopper 40 is closed by a transverse member 34 with an air inlet opening or openings 60 which are closed, when the stopper is seated, to prevent liquid contacting the bulb. The pipette 18 is attached to or integral with a flexible flange 22, e.g. of polythene, which is integral with a screw-threaded ring 28 secured to the cap 40, the flange 22 being forced against the bottle top by a rib 36 on the member 34 which also seals off the holes 60 from communication with the pipette. When the cap is loosened, the flange 22 moves away from the rib 36 to connect the bulb space to the pipette. The cap and pipette may be of polythene or rubber and the flange 22 may be attached directly to the cap wall which is then threaded internally. In Fig. 10 the opening 237 between the bulb and pipette interior is normally closed by a valve 267 attached to the bulb. In a further modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), a stepped plunger in the bulb co-operates with a stop as described in Specification 946,109 to limit adjustably the amount by which the bulb can be depressed.
