Abstract

939,462. Container closures; venting. C. R. JENNINGS. Jan. 1, 1960 [Jan. 12, 1959], No. 124/60. Classes 21 and 125(3). A dispensing closure for use with a bottle comprises a first closure element 12 having two spaced openings 30 and a spout-like element 14 which is rotatable to align passages 42, 46 through the element 14 with the openings 30. Bearing cavities 22 in the element 12 are separated by larger cylindrical cavities, the bottom of each larger cavity preferably -including a resilient sealing ring 32 extending round each of the openings 30. The passages 42, 46 may be straight, curved, or angled as shown, the passage 46 acting as an air vent. The lower end of the element 14 may be formed as a cylinder, the cavity in the element 12 being correspondingly shaped. The bearing cavities may be formed in the element 14 instead of in the element 12. The parts of the device may be injection moulded of polyethylene.
