Abstract

966,314. Spraying liquids. DEVILBISS CO. Jan. 5, 1961 [Jan. 7, 1960], No. 577/61. Heading B2F. A spray device for applying liquid specimens to glass slides for microscopic study includes an atomizer body 50 releasably attached by a bracket 64 to a tube 22 extending through a cover of a liquid container 15. The atomizer includes an air nozzle 54 supplied by a hose 62 whereby liquid is drawn up the tube and atomized from a tip 24 normally sealed by a cap 26. At one end the bracket is forked to embrace a groove 30 on the liquid tube, and is held by a flat spring 73; at the other end the bracket embraces the body 50 and is held by a screw 65. To operate the device a vent passage 80 is closed by a finger of the operator. In the embodiment of Fig. 10 the liquid tube is separate from the container and is detachably secured to a bracket 112 adjustably attached to an atomizer body 102. The bracket is forked to receive the tube which is held by a spring 118, and a liquid container 84, with its lid removed is held by a spring clip 120 which is clamped around the atomizer body. An air valve assembly 130 with an operating button 134 is attached to the assembly. After a glass slide has been sprayed, e.g. with bacterial cells, the container is disposed of.
