Abstract
798,878. Spray-producers. COTY, Inc. June 20, 1956, No. 19164/56. Class 69 (3). A hand-operated atomizer attached to a bottle neck 2 includes a flexible bulb 26 integral with a valve member 25 which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis in order to close the outlets of passages 9 and 10 in a stem 7 when desired. In operation, the bulb delivers air through an opening 28 and liquid is drawn up the passage 10 from the bottle and sprayed from an outlet 40; at the same time the passage 9 is vented via a slot 32 in the valve member. A rubber or like pad 13 is interposed between the top of the stem 7 and the valve member, and has openings aligned with the passages 9 and 10 which, in the non- spraying position, are closed by an eccentric part 27 of the valve member when the latter is rotated from the position shown in Fig. 1. A disc portion 31 is in constant engagement with the pad and has indicia 33, 34 at diametrically opposite points which are visible through an opening 42, and indicate whether the atomizer is open or closed. The opening 42 is provided in a head 39 which is press-fitted over the stem. The bulb and valve member may be of polyethylene.
