840,193. Respiratory appliances. SPARKLETS Ltd. Oct. 29, 1958 [Nov. 1, 1957], No. 34162/57. Class 81 (2). [Also in Groups XVII and XXVIII] An applicator for use with a valved container for dispensing liquids under pressure comprises a delivery tube 19, and a skirt portion 20 which fits over the neck 11 of a container 10, such that the applicator is fixed axially relative to the container. A dispensing valve is housed in the part 12 and is operated by a plunger 13 which projects through an aperture in the applicator. A cap member 25 is provided to close the open end of the tube 19 and in its closed position prevents actuation of the valve by a part of the cap engaging a recess 16 in the plunger. The valve may be a metering valve of the type described in Specification 839,775 and the skirt 20 may be provided with flutes 28 which allow air to be drawn into the liquid being dispensed. The cap may engage the interior or exterior surface of the tube 19. Alternatively the tube may extend axially of the container and the cap enclose the tube and valve actuating aperture completely as in Fig. 3 (not shown).
