Abstract
616,089. Sprayers. CURRY, H. E. Aug. 27, 1946, No. 25575. [Class 69 (iii)] In an atomizer particularly for medical inhalants, the container 1 is formed with inhalant outlet slots 7 and air inlets 32, both closable by rotation of stopper 10 and a conical cap 13 with corresponding outlets 14, the cap 13 being coupled by rods 11 to the stopper 10 which can be rotated in the neck 2 of the container to effect register or closure of the slots 7 and 14. Pressure air is supplied from a rubber bulb to the stopper tube 24 and atomizes liquid drawn through the capillary tube 30. A baffle plate 21 breaks up the jet, and air entrained through neck openings 32 assists in making a fog-like dispersion. The size of the openings 32 is also adjustable by rotating the stopper in the neck of the bottle, and thereby also complete closure of the combined device may be obtained. The container can be drained by pouring the liquid out through the air openings 32.
