Abstract

623,955. Medical inhalers. ANDRE (COMPONENTS), Ltd., and TRIER, V. A. June 4, 1947, No. 14814. [Class 81(ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] An apparatus for producing an aerosol comprises a spray nozzle of the ejection type directing a spray downwards into a chamber, the outlet from which is on the side remote from the spray. In the form described, air enters through a connecting member D and is directed downwards by a nozzle B of the type having an annular air orifice surrounding a central liquid orifice, which, in this case, is connected through a tube- C with the supply of liquid in a detachable container G. An annular baffle E and a circular baffle E' are arranged below the nozzle. The device is such that to reach the outlet K, the aerosol must pass through the region of the actual spray and this removes all comparatively large particles of liquid and returns them to the reservoir G. A disc valve J' is provided in the outlet tube K so that, if necessary, the patient can draw more air than is being supplied through the inlet D.
