Abstract

724,798. Stoppers. SCHLICKSUPP, T. F. Feb. 13, 1953, No. 4137/53. Class 125 (3). A self-closing closure for a collapsible tube 1 has a fixed member 6 supported at its inner end on a plate 7 having openings 8 and a movable tubular member 4 with discharge outlet 11 and movable between the wall 3 of the tube and the member 6. The inner end of member 4 is connected to a diaphragm 5 clamped at its periphery within the tube and a conical surface at the outer end co-operates with the member 6 to close the orifice 11 when the member 4 is in its inner position where it is biased by a rubber tube 14. The diaphragm 5 is flexible but non-resilient and pressure on the tube causes the contents to pass through openings 8, exert a pressure on the diaphragm to move member 4 and allow escape of contents through outlet 11.
