Abstract

584,198. Liquid-fuel burners. LUCAS, Ltd., J., and WATSON, E. A. Dec. 13, 1944, No. 25025. [Class 75 (i)] A liquid-fuel nozzle comprises a body part a having a pair of fuel ducts b, c, a disc e formed with holes f and a bore through which fuel can flow from the ducts, a swirl plug h in the bore, an annular swirl plate m in contact with the forward face of the disc e and having tangential slots n communicating with the holes f, a nipple o adapted to form a swirl chamber p, and means for securing the parts together. The swirl plug h may be held in position by a spring i and its exterior may be formed with helical grooves k 'through which the fuel can pass from the duct c. In the end of the body part a may be provided a piece d grooved externally to receive liquid fuel from the duct b and chambered at its forward end to receive fuel from the duct c. The parts may be held together by a sleeve q secured to the body part a by a screw-threaded sleeve r integral with a hollow part t which forms with the sleeve q an annular cooling air passage, the air being admitted through perforations u.
