Abstract
583,847. Non-return valves. MUNTZ & CO., Ltd., A., BEALE, E. S. L., and MUNTZ, F. A. I. Feb. 16, 1943, Nos. 2589 and 7669. [Class 135] Non-return valves particularly adapted for use in air-compressors and of the type described in Specification, 526,671, have at least two resilient laminµ, one of which serves as the closure element, superimposed between each adjacent seat surface and stop surface and have the seating area for the corners of the laminµ greater than that provided for other parts. As shown in Figs. 1 and 6, the closure laminµ 20A are plane in the unstressed condition while the supplementary laminae 20B are concave towards the seat in the unstressed condition and are arranged between the closure laminµ and the stop plates. The additional laminµ on the sides facing the stop plates are embossed with a dimple or equivalent pattern over part of the surface. To give additional support to the corners of the laminµ the end portions 19 of both intermediate and end valve seats increase in width as viewed normally to the seating face in the direction from the bolt bosses towards the bridge portion. The end prongs 28 for supporting the laminµ may be joined by webs 26 with the end portions 19. As shown in Figs. 10 and 13, the additional laminµ 20c are formed with apertures 32 and are arranged between the closure laminµ 20AA and the seats. In this form the laminµ are formed in pairs by bending a plate into hairpin section and are held against the lower ends of the stop plates by projections 34 on the ends of the prongs 28A and bolt bosses on one seat engaging corresponding recesses in the prongs and bolt bosses of adjacent seats. Specification 580,171 is referred to in the second Provisional Specification.
