Abstract

390,633. Indiarubber springs. SPENCER, MOULTON, & CO., Ltd., G. and SPENCER, A., 2, Central Buildings, Westminster. March 22, 1932, No. 8521. [Class 108 (iii).] In rubber compression spring elements in which a number of rubber bars are associated with a metal plate, the bars may be arranged in groups parallel to one another and normal to the adjacent edge of the plate. In the construction shown in Figs. 6 and 7, the two large groups 53, 54 are respectively normal to the edges of the plates 55, 56, while the smaller groups 57, 58 are respectively normal to the edges 59, 60. A number of such elements may be grouped together with metal plates interposed between them. Modified arrangements of the rubber bars on their slotted plates are described. The arrangement of the sets of bars perpendicular to one another tends to check lateral movement. Each bar may be constructed as described in Specification 390,555 with its centre portion narrower than its end portions when unstrained so that, under a predetermined force, the side walls may become substantially parallel.
