581,296. Aerial coupling arrangements. TENENBAUM, B. Aug. 29, 1944, No. 16392. [Class 40 (v)] A tuning arrangement for aerial circuits for transmission on two or more wave ranges has the fine tuning on some ranges controlled by a variable inductance and on the others by a variable condenser. These variable impedances are adjustable by the same knob, only one of them being inserted in the aerial circuit at a time. A tapped inductance or tapped inductance and tapped condenser may be used for the rough tuning of the circuits and the contact arms of the switches bringing about this tuning may be mounted on the same spindle as contact arms which switch in various tappings on the coils for adjustment of the coupling between the aerial circuits and the output stages of the transmitter. The condenser a and movable coil h which are the fine tuning means of aerial circuits A, B respectively, are connected to a common spindle indicated by C. In circuit A the coupling between the output stage and the aerial circuit, effected by coils band b<1>, is varied by rotation of movable arm d of switch c. In circuit B the coupling is varied by means of switch l which is connected to fixed tapped coil g, and rough tuning is obtained by means of switch i connected to fixed tapped coil f. Movable arms d, j, m are connected on a common spindle. The aerial is connected either to switch arm d or j according as trans-. mission is to be effected on short or on medium waves.
