Abstract
782,071. Aerial coupling arrangements. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 23, 1954 [April 23, 1953], No. 11166/53. Class 40 (7). An aerial coupling arrangement for feeding selectively signals in two different wavebands to a receiver comprises a coupling impedance arranged so as to couple the aerial to each of two input circuits designed for operation one in each of the two wavebands. In one embodiment the coupling impedance consists of the primary winding 4 of an input transformer in series with a condenser 5. The aerial end of the impedance is coupled through a built-in medium wave loop aerial 1 to the medium wave contact 6 of the selector switch 11. Medium waves signals are developed largely across condenser 5. For short wave signals condensei 5 presents a very low impedance and signal transfer is between the primary and secondary of transformer 4, 8 and thus to the short-wave contact 7 of the switch 11. Trimming condensers 9 and 10 and a tuning condenser 12 common to both inputs complete the circuit. In the embodiment the inductance of the winding 4 presents a negligible impedance. However, in a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the condenser 5 may be dispensed with and the primary winding designed to have a sufficiently high impedance for medium waveband signals to be generated across it.
