Abstract

553,618. Direction-finders. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken). Feb. 16, 1942, No. 2066. [Class 40 (v)] In a direction-finder in which two directional antenna systems 1, 2, at right angles to each other, are connected through separate receivers 3, 4 to an indicator, such as a cathode-ray tube 5, 6, the input circuits may be connected in parallel by means of a switch 7 so that the phase-displacement and amplification factor of at least one of the receivers can be adjusted, e.g. by means of device 9. The switch 7 may be controlled by the knee or foot of the operator. Where superheterodyne receivers are used, simultaneous control of the amplification of both receivers may be effected by varying a coupling condenser in the intermediate-frequency bandpass filters.
