Abstract

581,193. Portable buildings. JACOBSON, L. S. April 17, 1944, No. 7071. [Class 20 (i)] A portable hut assembled in sections has six walls arranged in a regular hexagon and is roofed with three equal rhomb shaped sections having their larger angles less than 120‹ so that each roof section lies in a unique plane. The hut rests on seven truncated concrete cones FS in which are secured bolts b which pass through holes in T section bearers SB, SB2 and the central hole of a plate sp to which the inner ends of the radial bearers are secured The bolts are provided with levelling nuts and washers nw and the holes in the bearers are made oversize to provide tolerance in fitting, The bearers are laid with the web of the T uppermost and on the flanges and intermediate bearers SB1 extending between adjacent radial bearers are laid six triangular floor sections each formed by a triangular frame tf, joists tj, and tongue and groove boarding tg. The walls and roof sections are like-wise built of frames covered on the outside with suitable overlapped sheeting cs and lined inside with plaster board for example. The outer covering of the roof sections is overlapped at the contiguous edges of the sections to make the roof watertight. Windows may be provided in five of the sides and a doorway in the sixth. Huts may be joined together by a common wall or the wall may be omitted or provided with a doorway for communication between the huts. The uppermost angles of the roof sections may be cut away to provide an opening for a vent or flue.
