1350599 Prefabricated room unit sections F B RODGERS and H GRAEESL 19 April 1971 [14 March 1970] 12393/70 Heading E1A A transportable, prefabricated room unit section Fig. 27 comprises a load-bearing floor panel section 10a constituting the base of the unit section and a vertical, load-bearing or non-load bearing structure mounted on the floor panel section 11, the unit section being provided with service installations, glazing and surface finish as deemed necessary and the floor panel section being adapted for rigid end-to-end connection with a further floor panel section of the room unit. The unit section of Fig. 27 incorporates pillars 11b, 11c, a window 51, sill 52, radiator 53, wallpaper 54, floor covering 55 and a wood panel 56. The unit section may take on numerous forms and constitute, for example, part of a kitchen unit, a bathroom, a staircase unit, a stair-head unit, elevator shaft unit or a heating unit which to-gether with associated units are interconnected to form a multi-storey building provided, if desired, with a balcony. The units may be made of reinforced concrete and in certain cases the floor section may be made of a ceramics or plastics material moulded integrally with the walls. The adjacent floor sections may be interconnected by a welding, by a bolted fishplate joint, by tensioned cables or attachment to common floor girders as depicted, for example in Fig. 18, where the floor section 10m is slotted to receive the girders 24 and attached thereto by pins 28.
