[Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVII] In a lubrication system for the main bearings of an internal-combustion engine, the crank-case has a cored passage b connected to the main bearings by cored branch passages c and having holes f with covers g, which holes assist in fixing the cores before casting and their subsequent removal ; they also serve for the inspection and cleaning of the passage in service: The Figures show transverse sections of the crankcase. A second cored passage d for'the return of lubricant draining into the sump is connected to a drain e. Further cored passages are provided in the crank-case for connection to pumps and other accessories.
