Abstract
353,273. Force-feed lubricating. CROSET, L. P., Haverstock, Strangford Road, Tankerton, Kent. Aug. 8, 1930, No. 23797. [Class 12 (iii).] In an internal-combustion engine lubricated by a gear pump of which one wheel a is secured on the crank shaft e, the upper part of the pump casing c is supported by the crank shaft while an extension i at the lower part is secured to a part j of the engine casing. The other wheel b of the pump is journalled on a spigot h formed on the pump cover g. The wheel a may be keyed direct on the shaft e or on a sleeve d keyed to the shaft and clamped by a nut f<1>, the sleeve serving to locate endwise the timing gear pinion d<1>. The pump draws oil from the sump through passages k, l and delivers through passages m, n, annular grooves o, p and radial holes q in the sleeve d, and openings r into the hollow crank shaft.
