Abstract

[Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] In a hydrokinetic transmission for motor vehicles etc., the output member d of the coupling is connected to the driven shaft g through parts f, j capable of limited relative movement; such movement being operative when the driven shaft overruns the output member to couple the shaft direct to the engine whereby the latter acts as a brake. As shown, a disc f secured to the coupling output member carries projections h to which are pivoted clutch-shoes m working in a drum c on the driving shaft b. Projections i on a flange j on the driven shaft abut the projections h under normal driving conditions. Should the driven shaft overrun the member d; the projections i apply the clutch-shoes to the drum c and thus: effect a direct connection between driving and driven shafts,
