Abstract
578,632. Fluid - pressure gauges. GRANT, C. R. A. Jan. 4, 1944, No. 145. [Class 106 (ii)] In a pressure gauge for viscous fluids wherein clogging of the Bourdon tube 1 is avoided by the provision of a collapsable chamber 7 between the viscous fluid and the tube 1, the latter communicates with a tube 5 located in the chamber 7 and provided at its end with one or more constrictions 6, or with constricting devices of the kind described in Specifications 554,522 and 570,927. After filling the bellows 7 and the tube 1 with a liquid such as industrial alcohol, whose viscosity remains constant at all operative temperatures, air is introduced into the tube 5, the liquid therein being expelled into the bellows 7, which are fitted with a partition 8 enclosing an air cushion. Pulsations at the pressure source 10 are thereby damped. Valves 9, 13 are fitted for priming.
