570,927. Regulating pressure of fluids. GRANT, C. R. A. June 29, 1943, Nos. 10553/43 and 1146/44. [Class 135] [Also in Group XIX] A pressure gauge provided with a pulsation damping device comprising a rod 9, or a number of rod sections arranged end to end, movable longitudinally with a slight clearance and within predetermined limits in a passage 1 located in advance of the pressure - responsive element, such as a Bourdon tube 4, has slots 10 across the ends of the rod, or of the end sections, to allow the fluid to flow into or out of the passage 1 when the rod is in contact with one end of the passage. Springs may be interposed between shoulders on the ends of the rods and the ends of the passage 1 so that the rod is positioned in the central part of the passage when pressure is not being applied. The rod, or some of its sections, and/or the inner surface of the chamber may be provided with a screw-thread. To allow for the difference of viscosity of the fluid at high and low temperatures, the material in which the passage is formed has a low heat coefficient of expansion and the rod has a relatively high coefficient.
