Abstract

1,249,197. Hydraulic accumulators. M. R. PACKER. Dec.12, 1969 [Jan.29, 1969], No. 5079/69. Heading F1P. A hydraulic accumulator for use as a surge damper in a line connected to a surge-sensitive instrument e.g. a pressure gauge comprises a hollow elongated body 10 divided by a deformable sleeve 19 into an outer gas-pressure chamber 33 and an inner hydraulic flow passage 32 through which extends a rod 27 having one end a clearance fit in a fluid inlet bore 30 of a body end plug 24 and having the other end screw-threaded into a fluid outlet bore 26 of a body end plug 23; the threaded end of the rod having a flow groove 28 and the sleeve 19 being shaped so as to provide a throat 40 in the fluid passageway 32. The chamber 33 is connected through an orifice 36 and a union 35 to a compressed gas supply.
