In a distributer for delivering measured quantities of liquid such as lubricant, a specified quantity is delivered at each pressure impulse effected by a pump. In an embodiment, a cylindrical casing 1 has a chamber 4, an inlet bore 3 at one end and a screwthreaded outlet at the other end which receives a screwed-plug 5 having orifices 6, 6<SP>1</SP> therein. The chamber 4 houses three movable units, one of which comprises a valve 18 having a flange 19 thereon which slidably engages the walls of the chamber 4 and has a flexible closure ring 23 mounted thereon which is retained by a ring 24, the valve 18 also has a portion of reduced diameter with a resilient seal held thereon by a ring 22; another unit of which comprises a cylinder 8 having a flange 9 at one end and a washer 12 at the other end, the cylinder having orifices 11, 11<SP>1</SP> therein; and the other unit of which comprises a hollow piston 15, sealed by rings 16, 17 and urged towards the inlet end of the distributer by a spring 13 which abuts the washer 12. A clearance 14 is provided between the plug 5 and the washer 12 so that, when pressurized liquid enters at f, the three units are raised until the washer 12 abuts the plug 5. The washer 22, being in a raised position, permits entry of the liquid which forces through the one-way seal 21 and through channels 20 in the valve 18 in order to urge the piston 15 upwards and so compress the spring 13. The quantity of liquid entering the distributer is limited by the stroke of the piston and, so long as the spring 13 is compressed, no additional liquid can enter. When the pressure acting on the liquid is reduced, the valve 18 closes and the spring 13 forces the piston 15 downwards and compresses the liquid trapped in the chamber 4. The tube 8 remains in its uppermost position for a sufficient period of time to allow the liquid to escape between the flange 9 and the closure ring 23 and thus enter the cylinder 8, from where it passes through orifices 6, 6<SP>1</SP> to a bore 7 in the plug 5. In a modification, the tube 8 is fixed to the plug 5 and the orifices 11, 11<SP>1</SP> and 6, 6<SP>1</SP> are omitted. The tube 8 is designed so that the length thereof permits displacement of the valve.
