Abstract
934,926. Lubricators. TECALEMIT Ltd. June 22, 1962 [June 27, 1961], No. 23284/61. Class 12 (3). In a one-shot lubricator, a metered quantity of lubricant is discharged at each pressure surge in a lubricant supply line. The lubricator 1, Fig. 1, is screwably connectable to the supply line 2 and has a body 3 with a cap 4 screwed thereto, a sealing-ring 5 being positioned therebetween. The body 3 houses a central tube 9 which has an axial bore 10 in communication with an outlet passage 11 in the cap 4, and radial passages 13 leading to an injector chamber. The latter is formed by a piston 14 which is slidably mounted on the tube 9 and seals against the inner wall of the body 3. The piston 14 is urged against a collar 15 on the tube 9 by a spring 16 and is displaceable by pressurized lubricant until a washer 17, which backs the flexible piston ring, abuts a loose spacer tube 18. An inlet passage 6 leads to the supply line 2 and is regulated by a non-return valve 7 having a U-type sealing ring 8 retained by a square-shaped flange 20 locked behind a cone 19. An outlet passage 11 in the cap 4 has a spring-urged ball 12 therein. In use, a pressure surge in the supply line 2 causes the valve 7 to move downwardly so that its cone 19 seals off the bore 10 of the tube 9. Lubricant leaks past the sealing ring 8 and forces the piston 14 downwards to displace a quantity of lubricant, equivalent to the swept volume of piston, through the outlet 11 and past the ball 12. When the lubricant pressure at the inlet 6 is reduced, the piston 14 is forced upwards by the spring 16, the valve 7 seats against the body 3 and the injector chamber is recharged through the bore 10 of the tube 9. In a modification, as shown in Fig. 2, a plug 21 is screwed into the inlet end of the body 3 and has a cylindrical socket therein which receives a spigot 22 of the valve 7. A sealing- ring 23 is placed between the body 3 and the plug 21. A member 24 is positioned intermediate the piston 14 and the collar 15 to keep the flexible flange of the piston in a sealing position. The cap 4 is replaced by an integral extension of the body 3.
