Abstract

A heat- and sound-insulating and fire-resisting material for building-purposes is made from a mixture of water, cement and aluminium sulphate into which is incorporated a foam of a resin soap solution. Sand, sawdust pretreated by known methods, pumice, pulverized cork, diatomaceous earth, hydrated lime, or mixtures thereof or pig or cow hair or asbestos fibre may be added. The cement, water, and aggregate, if used, are mixed in a concrete mixer, and the aluminium sulphate solution is added. A solution of yellow resin, caustic soda and water is beaten up into a foam and is added to the cement mixture preferably from the bottom by means of air pressure. Alternatively, the aluminium sulphate solution can be added to the resin soap solution. The mixture is then poured into moulds preferably of metal. A solution of glue or formaldehyde may be added to the foam.
