Abstract

Cementitious material as used in the building trades such as plaster of Paris, Keene's cement, and Portland cement is reinforced by means of fibrous glass which has been pretreated with hydrofluoric acid gas to roughen the surface. The glass may be in the form of thread or in cloth form, the weave being similar to that of hessian scrim. It may be added before or during moulding. Wood wool slabs, clinker, breeze blocks, cork, paper, timber, vermiculite, sand and oxide pigments may also be added.
