Abstract

A thermal and sound resisting material for ceilings and walls and for the manufacture of building boards comprises a mixture of sawdust, portland cement, calcium carbonate, slaked lime and common salt, the initial volume of the sawdust included in the mixture being greater than the total volume of the other ingredients. The composition may comprise 24 parts by volume of sawdust, 5 parts of cement and 5 parts of calcium carbonate, and 2 parts of sand is added with stirring, the salt and lime being added in slaking water. Dye materials such as mineral colours may be added to the outer layer. For walls, an inner layer of fine cement mortar may first be laid.
