576,777. Pipe joints. IRAQ PETROLEUM CO., Ltd., and KELLY, F. R. Dec. 30, 1943, No. 21859. [Class 99 (i)] A coupling adapted to be welded into a pipe line comprises a sleeve a and an inner tubular member b screwed fluid-tightly thereto, the sleeve having an internal annular recess a<1> between the weld d and the screwed joint so that the reduced portion may be severed at g and the pipes relatively rotated for repair whilst still fluid-tight, the sleeve subsequently being made good by welding. These sleeve may carry a tube b at each 'end and the pipes are welded to the coupling at e f by a butt or spigot-and-socket joint. Lead or other packing c is compressed in a groove in the sleeve by the tapered end b' of the tube b.
