Abstract

575,890. Electric light fittings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and PIERCE, M. W. April 24, 1944, No. 7565. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] The space within the globe 2 of an electric light fitting communicates with the atmosphere only by way of a large annular passage 3 in the canopy 1, the passage being formed by a spun sheet metal cylinder 5 and being filled with cotton-wool or other filtering material to prevent the entrance of dust. The cylinder 5 and canopy 1 are formed with apertures 10, 9. The globe is supported by a spider 13 against a flange 11 on the canopy, a sealing ring 12 of felt or rubber being interposed. The spider and canopy are both secured to a conduit 14 carrying the lampholder 15. A base member 17 which may be secured to a ceiling or other fixture has a depending skirt 18 obscuring the apertures 9.
