927,676. Electric lighting fittings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 22, 1962 [April 17, 1961], No. 13751/61. Classes 75 (2) and 75 (4). [Also in Group XX] In a fitting especially for use in operating theatres of the kind having a bowl-shaped reflector for directing the light of an incandescent lamp downwards, a hollow transparent screen surrounds the lamp and is coated on one surface with a light-transmitting, heat-reflecting film consisting of a layer of bismuth oxide overlaid with a layer of gold. A second layer of bismuth oxide may be applied over the gold layer. The bismuth oxide layers are at least 80 Š thick and the gold layer between 50 Š and 150 Š thick. In an example, a gold layer 100 Š thick is sandwiched between bismuth oxide layers 130 Š thick. In the fitting shown, a housing 2 carried in a yoke 6 supports a reflector 1 in the shape of a frustum of an ellipsoid having a central opening through which an electric lamp 4 projects. The mouth of the housing is closed by a light-transmitting member having a clear region 8 and a diffusing region 9. A screen in the form of an open-ended cylinder 10 coated on the inner surface with layers as above is supported in a ring 12 secured to the housing 2 by rods 13. Specification 915,568 is referred to.
