Abstract

575,542. Valve accessories. WILSON S. Dec. 15, 1943, No. 21075. [Class 136] A removable sleeve for a screw-down tap or cock in which the valve spindle is screwed and glanded, has a screw-threaded shank 1B for engagement with the tap casing 2 and a head part 1A with an overall smooth surface for easy cleaning and having one or more holes 7 for the entry of a brog or other suitable tool whereby the sleeve may be turned. The head part 1A forms a smooth continuation of the tap casing and is preferably curved outwardly in the shape of an ogee or an elongated S to provide extra metal for the two horizontal holes 7. The latter are equidistant from the axis of the tap spindle 4 and are located in the plane of the greatest diameter of the sleeve. The holes are chamfered at their ends to prevent damage thereto by the tool. Both the holes and the tool may be screw-threaded.
