Abstract

575,507. Thread guides for bobbin spinning apparatus. VANDERHOOVEN, C. C. Dec. 20, 1943, No. 21367. Convention date, July 22, 1942. [Class 120 (ii)] Thread guiding mechanism for rewinding in bobbin spinning apparatus comprises a reciprocating member 4, movable in a plane above and parallel to the bobbin axis, and a glass &c..guide 3 pivotally suspended from the member 4 and freely movable in an arc transversely to the bobbin axis, the guide normally hanging out of contact with the bobbin 2 but being movable into contact therewith, during spinning, by the tension in the thread alone. The guide 3 comprises a shank 6 with an enlarged head 7 removably held in a split holder 5 pivoted at 12 to the traverse member 4, and a horn 9 forming a groove 10 for confining and guiding the thread. A button 8, formed on the guide, bears on the bobbin. A guide mechanism, as above, may be positioned between two bobbins and in this case the guide shank 6 is furnished with a second horn 16, groove 18 &c., oppositely arranged so that the guide may be moved into contact with the second bobbin when the first is completed. In a modification, Fig. 6, the guide is formed with a pivot piece 13, a U-shaped thread-guiding groove 14 and a horn 15.
