Abstract

575,406. Soap and non-soapy detergent tablets. LEVER BROS. & UNILEVER, Ltd., and TAINSH, P. W. March 17, 1944, No. 4984. [Class 91] Non-transparent coloured soap or non-soapy detergent tablets contain, in addition to the usual colouring matter, a small proportion of a bluefluorescent substance. The latter specified comprise compounds of the coumarin group, particularly hydroxy coumarins such as umbelliferone, #-methyl umbelliferone and the sodium salt of umbelliferone-4-acetic acid. The non-soapy detergents specified comprise sulphonated or sulphated high molecular fatty compounds such as higher alkyl sulphonates and sulphates, and fatty acid esters of isethionic acid. The bluefluorescent substances may be added in the form of a solution or suspension in water with or without the addition thereto of a small amount of an alkaline compound such as borax or sodium carbonate to facilitate solution of the bluefluorescent substances.
